Credit cards are widely accepted in Cancun. We do recommend you use your credit card to pay for your hotel bill or for high priced items such as jewelry. There is a possibility that you may save some money when paying with your credit card because your bank back home may have a better exchange rate than the banks in Mexico. Just make sure that your bank does not charge you a fee for using your credit card in another country.

DO NOT USE your credit cards at restaurants, bars and flea markets. These places are not very secured. Most of the card fraud that happens in Mexico happens at restaurants and specially at bars. When you are Tequila impaired there is a good chance that you may loose your credit card or the waiter my add an extra zero to his tip. It's better to settle your bill with cash or with those extra pesos.
